Structured Data

Definition

Structured data is information added to a webpage in a standardized format that helps search engines and AI systems understand what the content represents. It identifies important information such as businesses, services, products, articles, FAQs, and organizations in a way that computers can interpret more accurately.

Why It Matters

Structured data gives search engines and AI systems explicit information about a business instead of requiring them to infer meaning from the surrounding text. That clearer understanding helps support AI Visibility and AI Naming Optimization.

Simple Example

A family law firm uses SearchShifter™ to implement AI Naming Optimization by adding structured data that identifies its business name, practice areas, office location, phone number, and FAQs. As a result, AI systems have a clearer understanding of the firm's identity and services, increasing the likelihood that the firm will be selected and named when it is relevant to a user's question.
